How to Create a Paper Witch's Hat

Looking for something spooky to decorate your home with this holiday season? How about a 3d hat cut from the papers in the "Haunted" collection. Here's a look at what you can create with a few papers, a Silhouette digital cutting machine, a few cut files, and some embellishments.

To create this hat:
* Use this witch's hat die cut HERE and the bat side of the "Spooky Ads" patterned paper. Cut out and assemble the cone. (or use a manual die cut cone shape)

* Cut the circle of the hat in your Silhouette software that will fit the assembled cone and cut from black cardstock or a second sheet of the "Spooky Ads" patterned paper (or use a manual circle die cut shape). Add a black doily, a pinked circle die cut from another black pattern. Center and glue all pieces together.

* Create a band from the hat by cutting a 1" x 12" strip from the striped side of the "Very Scary" patterned paper. Attach the ends, and mount in the center of the circle elements. Glue the cone to the top of the band.

* Decorate the hat with a variety of die cut shapes, ephemera pieces, and embellishments. I added a bat sticker to the top of the hat with twisted black wire.

Here's a closer look at the details on the hat:

This comes together quite easily when all your tools are handy. I highly recommend using a glue gun to attach all the pieces so they stick together for a long time.
