Easter Card

Have you started shopping for your kids' Easter baskets? I typically stock up on Robin Eggs as early as possible because a few bags always seem to disappear before the holiday actually arrives. For something a little more special this year, why not add an Easter card to each of your kids' baskets? You can use the "Celebrate Easter" collection from Echo Park Paper to create this sweet card:

Here's a close up look at the card:

You can see I added some yellow leaf die cuts, as well as, some lace to add a little pizzazz to the card. I always love adding the details when I'm crafting. Don't you?

Flora Banner

Are you loving the watercolored, hand-drawn art you're seeing on home decor items, craft supplies and more? I sure do. I wanted to create a feminine banner I could give to a friend or hang in my craft space. I used the "Flora No. 1" collection from Carta Bella Paper to create this beautiful Flora Banner:

Here's a closer look at the die cut flowers I made on the banner. I love adding 3d texture to my projects. Layer a couple of flowers on top of each other and then add a fringe center to the flower. It's one of my favorite techniques for flower centers.

Many of the pennants on this banner are actually the 3x4 Journaling Cards cut into tags. The rest of the pennants can be hand-cut or you can use a die cut to cut each piece. I've used both techniques before.

Mother's Day Tussie Mussies

Are you looking for a beautiful way to tell your mother that you love her? Try this easy Mother's Day Tussie Mussie craft! It's designed to hold small gifts and comes together very easily. You can quickly make this project with a few craft supplies; but it makes an incredible, handmade gift for Mom.

Mother's Day Tussie Mussies with Jen Gallacher from www.jengallacher.com. Includes tutorial and product list. #craft #tussiemussie #mothersday

Instructions:

Step 1:  Use this Sizzix "Cone, Faceted" die HERE to cut three Tussie Mussies from patterned paper using a Sizzix Die Cut Machine or Cuttlebug Die Cut Machine.

Step 2: Using the lines impressed into the die cut, score and fold each line with your fingers or a scoring tool. Add adhesive to the ends that will join together.

Step 3: Repeat this step for as many Tussie Mussies as you want to give to Mom, Grandma, or a neighbor.

Step 4: Pleat a small, white doily and attach it to the front of each Tussie Mussie with glue or adhesive.

Step 5:  Use a circle die cut that is just large enough to cover the center of the white doily to die cut circles from white cardstock. This will require the use of a manual die cut machine.

Step 6: Use a leaf die cut and a manual die cut machine to cut leaves from light green cardstock. This die has two leaves. I used the larger leaf die cut shape for my Tussie Mussies. I set aside the other die cut leaves for a future project.

Step 7: Mount the circles, leaves, and paper flowers in the center of the doily. Leaf die cuts can point down or up and can be layered for even more texture.

Step 8: You can also add texture by adding a few dark pink enamel dots to the white die cut circle and doily of some of the Tussie Mussies. This is an optional step.

Step 9: Use a fringe/tassel die cut and white crepe paper to cut a long strip of fringe. This will require the use of a manual die cut machine.

Step 10: Use glue to adhere the tassel to the bottom point of the Tussie Mussie. Wrap the fringe around the Tussie Mussie several times and glue in place.

Step 11: Use glue to wrap white lace around the top of the fringe.

Step 12: Thread ribbon through two small holes in the scallop design at the top of the Tussie Mussie. Knot the ends of the ribbon. The ribbon will allow you to hang the Tussie Mussies from a doorknob, which is the traditional way to deliver a Tussie Mussie to a neighbor or loved one.

Step 13: Fill the Tussie Mussie will small objects: a small photo of Mom with one of the kids or Dad; chocolate is always a favorite; and a small, handwritten note just for Mom.
